A Psychoanalysis of the Social Media Image of Grindeanu, Interim Leader of PSD
Let’s put psychology back to work!
This time, I’d like to analyze the intentionality behind Mr. Grindeanu’s visual messaging as presented on his Facebook account.
Let’s look at two specific images:
His profile picture, which shows the architect of OUG 13, the enabler of PSD’s criminals, in a position of strength—as a polished, high-ranking politician in a suit, with an F-16 jet in the background;
And his cover photo, which shows Grindeanu surrounded by a crowd of PSD voters, in a humble posture—like a mob of starving zombies desperate to touch their master, hoping he’ll offer them another bowl of food in exchange for their vote.
If you combine these two images into a single, coherent narrative, it might go like this:
“The all-powerful master Grindeanu from the profile picture exercises his authority over the mob circling him in the cover photo—who are pushed back by bodyguards like cattle so they don’t trample their master under their hooves.”
This is a visual of stark contrasts: the strong, majestic Grindeanu (profile photo) versus the humble, hungry mass, adoring the leader. This contrast amplifies his authority and grandeur as seen in the profile image.
In short, Grindeanu is projecting power and dominance over ‘the fools.’ That is the core message communicated through the combination of these two images.
Conclusion: It is likely that Grindeanu, in his role as interim head of PSD, has already **hired a sociologist—or a whole team of them—**not only to write his speeches and public statements, but also to carefully select his profile images and manage his social media presence.
To me, it is clear that there is the touch of an experienced sociologist here—most likely his new PR team, funded by PSD with public money, to glorify this political thug. Given what is known about Grindeanu’s IQ, I find it hard to believe he could independently design such a visually strong and psychologically sophisticated message.
As a sociologist, I can clearly see that Grindeanu’s new PR team is quite competent, since they’ve managed to convey such a complex, refined, and powerful message—one that only an expert in communication sociology and psychology could craft.
